There are two main types: UHF | RAIN - RFID, which operates over long distances and is ideal for logistics and industrial automation and HF | NFC - RFID, designed for short-range applications like contactless payments and access management. RFID technologies operate in three frequency ranges, each suited for specific applications:

HF | NFC RFID (High Frequency, 13.56 MHz):
- Advantages: Widely used, standardized (ISO 14443 and ISO 15693). Highly encrypted chip options available.
- Range: Up to 10 centimeter
- Applications: Contactless payment, access management, healtcare sector and libraries.

UHF | RAIN RFID (Ultra High Frequency, 860-960 MHz):
- Advantages: Long range, supports bulk reading, fast data capture.
- Range: Up to 12 meters
- Applications: Industry 4.0, logistics, asset tracking and vehicle identification.
