Overview
HID Global’s OMNIKEY® 5027 is designed for customers who want to utilize their existing access control badge for strong authentication to computer, network or cloud applications beyond physical access control.
Typical environments for this reader include enterprise, healthcare, pharmaceutical, financial services, government, and other agencies seeking an easy integration with higher security and access management. The new reader supports 13.56 MHz credentials such as iCLASS®, DESFire® or MIFARE® and has an integrated cryptographic module supporting credentials with enhanced system security such as iCLASS Seos®, iCLASS SE®, iCLASS Elite®. Due to its keyboard wedge functionality the reader can be easily integrated.
Data from the card can be retrieved and transformed for direct input into applications using keystroke emulation and therefore eliminates the need for organizations to manually enter card data into applications. The reader uses the native Human Interface driver from operating system and eliminates the requirement for driver installation and is suitable to be used with standard PC or workstations, as well as with thin- and zero clients. The reader comes preconfigured and can be used out of the box for the most common cards and use cases. System Integrators appreciate the easy configuration and the numerous options using the Workbench Tool. The options include type of credential used, extracting CSN or different PACS data fields, pre and post strokes. Any custom configuration can be easily multiplied using a configuration card or file in the Workbench Tool.
