Overview
The Times-7 A5020NF is the near-field member of the A5020 family of compact, ultra-low-profile RAIN RFID antennas. It is tuned to read only in the near-field zone, up to 100 mm from the antenna surface, so only objects brought into close contact are recorded. Far-field gain is equivalent to -30 dBi, and the 150.7 x 149.4 mm housing is only 14.5 mm deep.
With practically no far-field radiation, the A5020NF prevents stray reads from people or items passing nearby, which is essential for tap-and-authenticate doors, badge payment and tool release. One wideband version covers 865–928 MHz for both ETSI and FCC regions, with a typical VSWR of 1.4. It works with any UHF RFID reader with a 50 Ω antenna port; a 100 Ω detection resistance lets readers identify it.
The flame-retardant, UV-resistant white ABS radome is rated IP68, so the antenna also suits permanent outdoor installation and customer-facing counters. Recessed corner holes allow flush mounting with 30 mm wood screws or fitting to 100 x 100 mm VESA brackets. The SMA jack exits on the side; the optional A5020 Connector Protection Backplate shields the connector when the antenna sits on a bracket in free space.
