Overview
The Times-7 A5531C is the circularly polarised version of the A5531 RAIN RFID ground antenna, built for moving products, assets and people where side-mounted antennas are unsuitable. At 1200 x 195 x 10 mm and 2.7 kg it lies flat on the ground and spans 1.2 m. It delivers 9.5 dBiC typical gain with a 3 dB beamwidth of 13° in the XZ plane and 85° in the YZ plane.
Typical VSWR is 2.0 and the front-to-back ratio is 18 dB. Circular polarisation reads tags in any orientation as they pass over the antenna. Versions for 865–868 MHz (ETSI) and 902–928 MHz (FCC) work with any UHF RFID reader with a 50 Ω antenna port. The antenna is DC grounded for ESD protection, accepts up to 3 W and offers antenna detection via a 10 kΩ resistance.
The fire-retardant ABS housing is rated IP53 and operates from 0 to +50 °C; Times-7 recommends covering the radome with RF-transparent material, such as a mat. It carries hand trolleys, rubber-wheeled carts, runners, bicycles and occasional pneumatic-tyred vehicles, with point loads up to 7 kg per square centimetre and distributed loads up to 500 kg; install it on a smooth, hard, flat surface. An SMA female side fly lead (298 mm) connects to the reader cable.
The Times-7 A5531C is listed at IDCRAFT under UHF RFID antennas. Matching readers: fixed RAIN RFID readers.
